Volunteer Audio Engineer - Front of House at West Side Christian Church

Jan 2007 - Present

As an outlet for more creativity, volunteering as a FOH audio engineer and technician has its share of challenges.

This position is always evolving and requires focused attention, a good ear for music, and most importantly a passion for working with people.

Since 2007 West Side Christian Church has transitioned from 3 to 4 services on Sunday morning including the addition of an online platform. In the past decade alone the church has seen membership and weekly attendance surpass 3400 people on a regular basis.

In a technical sense, this position originally started as an all-volunteer team, with limited experience by all. Since then the front of house mixing desk has evolved from an analog, 48 channel Allen & Heath ML5000 console to Avid's SC48 and Venue Profile desks. In addition, services have become more dynamic and engaging allowing those attending to worship and connect in a high-quality atmosphere. Working closely with musicians, stage producers, lighting engineers and technical producers on a regular basis has allowed me to expand my areas of responsibility and reliability outside of the normal 8-5 business hours and roles.
